Spring is definitely on it’s way here in LaLaLand! With temps in the 80’s this week I decided it is time to lean out my winter diet a bit. I also have to shoot a TV segment this week with the fabulous Marie Osmond so I want to make sure I am de-bloated from the weekend fun and have the clearest skin possible.
When I feel like I need a little cleaning out I Go Green, not in an environmentally safe way, but in a healthy way. I try and eat as much fresh, organic green veggies, soups, smoothies and juices as possible and crowd out the other stuff. This week also happens to coincide with St. Patrick’s Day so I’m killing two birds with one stone here.
Here’s my first green recipe of the week:
Go To Green Protein Smoothie
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup of frozen pineapple
2 cups of chopped organic kale
1 tablespoon of flax seed or chia seeds
1 scoop of hemp protein powder
1 tbsp honey (optional)
1 cup almond milk
Blend together in your Vitamix or other blender. Use more or less liquid depending on your preference. Top with dried coconut and chopped nuts for a perfect small meal that includes tons of fiber, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
