The 2016 Holiday Gift Guide for the Strong, Safe & Sexy Woman in Your Life:
The skin is our body’s largest organ and it will absorb anything you rub on it, including all of those nasty chemicals found in most beauty products that can disrupt our natural hormone flow. However, most non-toxic beauty products can cost you a fortune these days. Which is why I absolutely love Trader Joe’s for selling body butters, moisturizers and scrubs with safe ingredients that do not contain dangerous chemicals like parabens and phthalates.
If your gift recipient likes the smell of coconuts then she will absolutely love Trader Joe’s Coconut Body Butter. I use it every single day. Grab one of these for 10 bucks or make a basket of non-toxic beauty products that include the Lavender Salt Scrub and the Lavender Hand & Body Lotion. Bonus: these products are all vegan and cruelty free for the animal lovers in all of us.
(You have to go to the store to buy them, no online shopping site.)

While you are at it you can throw in some 5 Free Nail Polish. 5-Free means these polishes are free of the 5 most toxic chemicals that most every-day nail polish brands use that include: formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, and parabens. I love Côte and they even have a salon that you can get a gorgeous and relaxing mani/pedi in located in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Single bottles cost $18 and gift sets will get you a slight discount.
For the ladies in your life that love makeup and that you want to keep safe, the SABRE lipstick pepper spray poses as a lipstick but has the power to help defend you against would-be attackers.
Anyone who enjoys cooking nutritious and high quality meals will appreciate and enjoy a set of flavored extra virgin olive oils. There has been a lot of scandalous olive oil posers out there that claim to be cold pressed extra virgin olive oils that really mix lower quality, cheaper oils and label them falsely. Don’t be fooled by labels that say “made in Italy”, but really contain olives from other countries that are shipped to Italy and processed in a plant there. Italian EVOO is wonderful but so are Californian made like this set you can get from Williams Sonoma.
For your workout partner who loves hosting parties and drinking wine, this gift is a no-brainer. Fitvine makes wines without additives, chemicals or pesticides. FitVine wine also has no residual sugar resulting in less calories and carbs without lowering the alcohol so it is nutritionist approved for people on a fitness mission. And did I mention their motto, “We crush grapes, you crush life”? I’m loving this company and so will your favorite hostess.

For the runners on your list, this hipster belt sleekly and efficiently holds your phone, keys, currency and I.D. Always bring some form of identification with you when you leave your home for a run, hike or workout. Hopefully, you won’t need it but you should have it in case of an emergency. https://www.nathansports.com/the-hipster-waist-belt-with-pockets-7701n
For the avid traveler in your life, she can always use a fun new passport holder. One that inspires her to dream about, plan, and book her next travel adventure. I love this one from Anthropologie.
For your goal-oriented, ambitious girlfriends that are on a mission in life, this happiness planner comes in different varieties and colors. You can choose the 100 day or the 52 week version. What I like best about it is you can start it on any day of the year.
For the vegan or vegetarian in your life, these kitchen towels are adorable. You buy a set of 3 with the following funny song lyrics:
Everyday I’m Brusselin’
Let the Beet Drop
Your plant-based friends will get the humor!
$30 for set of 3
These mantra bracelets are the perfect gift for your Secret Santa, yogi friend or overall positive person. Make up your own inspirational quote or go with something classic. A mantra is something you repeat to yourself over and over so it sinks into your subconscious until you actually believe it. So aim high! They come in your choice of silver, gold or rose gold.
$49 and up (depending on what metal you choose)
An active woman of any age probably has a drawer full of leggings, but you can never go wrong with a pair of athleisure leggings that double from fitness gear to brunch-ing gear. I love the Tux Metro Legging from Athleta, that are great for day or night.
Most women would not turn down a new, fashionable pair of kicks. I love the rose gold accent on these New Balance sneakers, but other colors are available. They are great for everyday getting around, commuter shoes or light workouts.
A well-designed fitness program should include rest, recovery and stress relief. I would get a massage every week if I could. Realistically, I aim for one at least every other month. To me, it’s the perfect act of self care and every woman deserves it! Right now, I am crushing on The Now in Santa Monica for a reasonably priced massage. When my body needs serious work, I see a more experienced body worker. Either way, you can find a gift certificate for an hour massage ranging from $60 up to $150.
If your loved one doesn’t already have a high powered blender that can blend both hot and cold items then you may want to consider a Vitamix. First of all, I don’t recommend appliances for significant others UNLESS they have specifically asked for them! But, I can vouch that the Vitamix brand has the best blender in town. I’ve had mine for 5 years now and it is a game changer. Yes, the Nutribullet is good and much cheaper, but it’s not even in the same league as Vitamix and here is why. In the wintertime, I bring a pot of veggies and broth to a boil (takes about 10-15 minutes, depending on the size) and then, steaming hot, I pour it into my Vitamix and end up with the most delicious blended soups. You cannot do that in a Nutribullet. Not to mention my smoothies are super duper delicious! They are expensive so this is definitely a VIP gift, but I think of them as an investment. The company guarantees them for life so I plan on having mine for many more years to come. Refurbished machines start at $360 and up!
