Approximately 1 in 5 women will be the victim of a sexual assault during her 4 years at college. What in the world is going on and how can we make a positive impact and turn those statistics around?
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In honor of it, and as part of a leadership course I was enrolled in, I decided to create this project to raise awareness around the epidemic of sexual assault on college campuses around the U.S.
These 7 brave women, featured in the video are all on RAINN’s (Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network) speakers bureau. They all have a story to tell and a message to give. With the sharing of this video, I hope to create that space for them AND for the thousands of others who have been through the same suffering.
Here’s the message:
REPORT: By reporting these crimes you can keep other women and men safe from that same perpetrator.
SHARE: Healing begins through language. It is our duty to initiate conversations to make it safe for women and men to speak up about this.
HEAL: When women and men survivors feel supported by others they can report, speak up, and start the healing process.
Thank you to all of the brave women who volunteered to share their videos with us all! I commend you!
Thank you to Fit Life Productions for the great editing work.
Thank you to Sabre for being a campaign partner.
