Better Than a PSL, The Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Living in such a warm climate here in sunny SoCal, it takes me a while to catch up to the pumpkin spice mania. But once Thanksgiving gets closer, I’m finally on it! I can’t wait to indulge in a home made pumpkin pie but until then, I can feel guilt free about drinking a Pumpkin Spice Smoothie for breakfast or a post workout small meal.

Pumpkin is packed with antioxidants and easy burning carbohydrates and then I add some healthy fats from MCT oil and hemp seeds. I also use a protein supplement to balance it out as a complete meal. Most of my smoothies include fruit but this one doesn’t, making it lower in sugar than most.

There’s tons of ways to make it, here’s my recipe and the ingredients I’m using right now and below that is the other substitutions you can make.

Serving size: 1

3/4 cup coconut milk
1/2 can of organic pumpkin
1/2 scoop collagen protein powder (Bub’s Naturals)
1/4 scoop Vega vanilla sport protein powder
1 tablespoon MCT oil
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Handful of ice

Blend in blender until smoothe!

Instead of coconut milk, you can use: almond milk, rice milk, hemp milk

Instead of collagen powder, you can use: plant based protein powder

Instead of Vega protein powder, you can use: any protein powder you want (I just don’t use a whole scoop)

Instead of MCT oil, you can use: coconut oil

Blooper! Olive the kitty getting into the mix.

Instead of hemp seeds, you can use: raw pumpkin seeds
